Introducing unlimited private repositories with our new pricing plan.

Dear Sider users,

This is Koichiro from Sider. Thank you so much for your continuous support of our product Sider.

Effective May 1st, 2018 Sider will introduce our new pricing plan.
Here is what will happen with the new plan:

  • The new plan pricing will be based on the number of seats instead of the number of private repositories you use. This change will give flexibility to teams of any size.
  • When upgrading or downgrading, the plan change for the month will be applied on a prorated basis.

We would like to encourage all users to switch to the new plan.
(You can still use the legacy plan for a while, so please rest assured. )

What is changing?

Legacy Plan (Effective until April 30, 2018)

  • Unlimited users
  • Pricing based on the number of private repositories you need.
  • Unlimited public repository
  • Starting from $29/month (Micro Plan)

New Plan(Effective from May 1st, 2018)

  • Pricing based on the number of seats
  • Unlimited private repositories
  • Unlimited public repository
  • Starting from $12/month per seat

Why are we doing this?

In May 2016, GitHub changed their paid plan, from pay-per-repository plans to pay-per-user plans. When you compare the number of repositories to the number of users in GitHub, there are so many organizations with repositories that outnumber their developers.

On the other hand, Sider’s paid plan has been based on the number of private repositories. We came to think that the pricing gap between the GitHub and Sider was keeping our users from getting the most out of our product. So, we decided to take action to solve this by introducing this new plan.

Also, the amount of the computer resource usage which occurs in order to provide our product is proportional to the number of the times Pull Requests were opened or updated. This is firmly related to the number of developers rather than the number of the private repositories. That is another reason why we think applying a pay-per-seat plan is appropriate for Sider’s service.

Why switching to the new plan is good for you?

We encourage our users who are using the legacy plan to switch to the new plan. Here is why.

  • The new plan offers unlimited private repositories, so you can start using Sider on any repositories, including the ones you have been keeping aside.
  • Sider will charge only for the number of users who actually use Sider instead of the number of registered users on your GitHub Organization.

We would love to ensure our customers benefit from the new plan, so please take a minute to update your plan.

Additional new features

Additionally, starting from May 1st, 2018, the following new features will be available.

  • You can check and print your invoice on Sider’s Website.
  • When you change your plan (add or remove seats), this change will be applied to your invoice for the month on a prorated basis.

Currently, your invoices or receipts have been sent via email, requiring each user to change their point of contact or to reach Sider to ask to re-send this information. With this new Web UI, it will be so much easier for you to check your billing information.

How this change will affect You

The legacy plan will still be available for a while if you choose to continue using one. However, please note that you will no longer be able to switch or sign up additionally to the legacy plan or upgrade/downgrade your plan within the legacy pricing system.

In order to switch to the new plan, please go to our website. (Please note that if you have been using PayPal for your payment, you will now need to register your credit card information to use the new plan.)

How to switch to our new plan

You can change your plan by following the steps below. The following screen will be displayed after May 1st.

Please open the organization settings page. After that, please click theUpgrade button.

Organization settings page > Account & Billing

You can check and print an Invoice on the following screen.

Can I still sign up to the legacy plan?
No, you cannot sign up to any of the legacy plans additionally from May 1st, 2018.

I still use the legacy plan. How long can I continue using the old plan?
We are still deciding on when to terminate supporting the legacy plan. And, in case we are moving forward with the termination, we will give you a three-month notice.

Can I upgrade or downgrade in the legacy pricing plans?
No, you will no longer be able to upgrade or downgrade between the old pricing plans. Please switch to the new plan.

How do you calculate the number of seats?
First, we will need you to input the number of seats you wish to purchase on the organization settings page on Sider’s website.

Then, you will be able to assign seats to the users who wish to access to your private repositories. The maximum number of users who can access to your private repositories is the number of seats you purchased.

The number of seats you purchased is not going to change unless you manually make the change on the Sider website. Even if a new user in your organization signs up to Sider, this will not affect on your payment plan automatically.

How do you calculate when I add/remove seat(s)?
We will calculate based on a prorated basis. That means you can add or remove seats anytime during the month!
