Improved seat assignment to outside collaborators

On Sider, organization owners have to assign seats to users in order to allow them to see analysis results of private repositories.
Previously, you could only assign seats to members of the organization the repository belonged to. However, as of August of this year, we made it possible to assign seats to outside collaborators.

However, because the UI confused some users, we released an improved UI on September 14th, 2018.

Here is an example of the old UI. Collaborators are lined up side by side under “Outside collaborators”, which makes the UI seem overwhelming.

This release adds a search box for Sider users and makes it easier to search for outside collaborators.

To try out this new UI, you need to follow these steps (only available to organizations that have already subscribed to a per-seat plan).

  1. Access your Sider dashboard.
  2. Click on an organization which you have admin rights to.
  3. Click the “Users” tab.
  4. A search box will be displayed if there is at least one user who has signed up on Sider and is related to the organization.

With this release, organization owners can assign seats to users who don’t belong to their organizations, as collaborators.

Sider will continue to improve its UI and will always strive to increase usability.
